I like this. I did a double-take because I thought I missed seeing the word “missed” but I hadn’t, it’s there. Which made me think about what attracts a reader to poetry. Could the obvious word, like “missed” be missed out altogether, and the poem would still work? Does that make readers sit up and take note?

That’s an interesting observation! Makes me wonder how each poem works on the subconscious level of diff readers, and how each of us reacts differently to the poem based on our past experience and reality.
